This training provides Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs) with a foundational understanding of psychopharmacology in children and adolescents. It explores common psychiatric medications, their intended uses, potential side effects, and the importance of monitoring medication-related concerns within behavioral health settings. After successful completion of this course with 80% mastery, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and 1.0 NBCC clock hours.

Course Overview

This course is designed to provide Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs) with foundational knowledge of psychopharmacology as it relates to children and adolescents receiving behavioral health services. Participants will gain a better understanding of common medication categories, their intended purposes, potential side effects, and the role of non-prescribing professionals in supporting safe and informed care. The course is intended to strengthen awareness, improve interdisciplinary understanding, and help QMHPs recognize medication-related considerations that may impact a child or adolescent’s functioning, treatment response, and overall well-being.
